9/11 skeptics keep strengthening their case. Most recently, in a scientific paper that analyzes material from dust collected in lower Manhattan immediately after the event. This paper establishes beyond any doubt that nano-thermite (an exotic, military compound), in very large quantities, was present in the World Trade Center buildings during their collapse. Now it's up to those who defend the establishment narrative to demonstrate how the nano-thermite could have gotten there.

The simplest explanation, of course, is that it was used to bring the buildings down.

This podcast reviews the paper with its lead author, Dr. Niels Harrit. Niels is a professor of chemistry at the University of Copenhagen, where he's been teaching for about forty years. Even if you don't agree with 9/11 skeptics, listening to Niels you'll most likely find him honest and believable.

U.S. relations with the Saudi royal family trumped the importance of the 3,000 murders on Sept. 11, 2001. That was the opinion of the U.S. State Department during the Bush years.

The Bush administration made the path as rocky as possible for the families who sued the Saudis. The families' lawsuit showed how the Saudis financed the lunatics who pulled off a mass murder on American soil in September 2001.

Barack Obama has followed that same Bush agenda.

But it took an intellectually lightweight U.S. Supreme Court to really send the important message to the Saudi royal family. That message: "We love your oil and need your money."

So even with the Supreme Court, it was all about our love affair with the Saudis when the court ruled that the families of 9/11 victims were not permitted to sue the royal family.

A British man spoke publicly for the first time yesterday to accuse MI5 officers of forcing him to confess to masterminding the July 7 bombings.

Jamil Rahman claims UK security officers were behind his arrest in 2005 in Bangladesh.

He says he was beaten repeatedly by local officials who also threatened to rape him and his wife.

Mr Rahman, who is suing the Home Office, said a pair of MI5 officers who attended his torture and interrogation would leave the room while he was beaten.

Powerful prosecutor and public figure Patrick Fitzgerald has been waging a chilling private jihad aimed at "killing" a book critical of him.

Okay, so he's one of the "sexiest men alive" -- but what does Patrick Fitzgerald, the U.S. Attorney in Chicago and Special Counsel in the CIA leak case, have against us poor, unsexy journalists? It's bad enough that Fitzie won't answer my questions: ("Rory. I just wanted to get back to you and let you know that I am going to decline to be interviewed. Thank you. Pat") It's worse that he was responsible for the jailing of New York Times reporter Judith Miller, who spent 85 days behind bars. Now comes word that Fitzgerald, who must have too much time on his hands now that Scooter Libby has been freed and Rod Blagojevich indicted, spent much of the last year and a half going after another journalist, Peter Lance, in an attempt to kill a new edition of Lance's investigative book Triple Cross by threatening to sue both the author and his publisher for libel.

Originally published in November 2006 by Regan Books, a division of Harper_Collins, Triple Cross uncovers the story of how Al Qaeda master spy Ali Mohamed infiltrated U.S. intelligence in the years leading up to 9/11 - "and how the FBI's elite bin Laden squad failed to stop him." Among the radicals trained by Ali Mohamed --and photographed by the FBI in 1989 -- one would go on to kill Rabbi Meier Kahane in 1990; three were convicted in the World Trade Center bombing in 1994; and two (including Kahane's killer) were later convicted by then-Assistant U.S. Attorney Fitzgerald in 1995 in what became known as the "Day of Terror" plot to blow up the bridges and tunnels into Manhattan. The book also details how the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's offices in New York prosecuted terrorists before 9/11, including "Blind Sheik" Omar Abdel Rahman, who infamously tried to blow up the World Trade Center, and others who bombed US embassies in Africa. And Lance alleges that Fitzgerald, when he was an assistant U.S. attorney in the 1990s, discounted information that may have revealed the existence of an Al Qaeda cell in New York years prior to September 11, 2001.

I believe that anyone who promotes further murders like Dr. Tiller or the guard at the holocaust museum are guilty of terrorism. As a Muslim blogger wrote about the Tiller murder:

Two men commit murder with the goal of influencing government policy in the United States. The crimes occur one day apart. Both are religiously motivated. The Muslim is charged with terrorism. The Christian is not.

On the other hand, anyone who tries to label the maniacs who committed the murders as "right wingers" is painting with too wide a brush.

The murders - and the prevention of potential future attacks - are part of an important law enforcement issue. But just as it was insane to invade Iraq based upon a false linkage with 9/11, it would be insane to try to label millions of Americans as being dangerous just because they are republicans, or liberals or any other group.

Remember, many on the left say that the people and the treasury are being looted by the big corporations and fat cats . See this, this and this. So don't fall for the old divide and conquer trick of trying to distr act from the populist anger which both the right and the left righteously feel at being ripped off.

The documentary asserts that although independent investigations began within weeks of both Pearl Harbor and the Kennedy assassination, the same was not true of the attacks of September 11, and the formation of the 9/11 Commission was strongly opposed by many in Washington, including the Bush Administration. It was only due to pressure from the 9/11 families, led by twelve calling themselves the Family Steering Committee, that, 14 months after the attacks, the first hearing began.

Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi allegedly commited suicide by hanging in the prison where he was being held in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. His death followed a visit by a team from Human Rights Watch, one of the world's leading independent organisations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights.

The news of the death by possible suicide of former CIA "ghost prisoner", Ali Mohamed al-Fakheri, also known as Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi, has caused only a small murmur in the U.S. press. The Washington Post's Peter Finn wrote a story on it Monday, noting the key fact that it was the tortured confession of al-Libi in an Egyptian prison, where he had been rendered by the U.S. and subjected to beatings and mock burial, that was used by then-Secretary of State Colin Powell in his February 2003 presentation to the UN as evidence that Iraq was in league with the Al Qaeda terrorists and/or interested in using WMD.

Bmaz made this point the other night when writing on the initial reports of al-Libi's death. Marcy Wheeler, in a new article, notes some suspicious matters concerning the timing of the events. The newly breaking story has also now been picked up by McClatchy (H/T Perris). Both Marcy and the McClatchy article note the "relentless pressure" put on interrogators to find some link between Al Qaeda and Saddam.

Powell's claims that Al Qaeda had been trained in chemical and biological weaponry by Saddam Hussein's regime was a key element of the U.S. drive to invade and occupy Iraq. But al-Libi recanted this story in January 2004. According to the Washington Post, the Defense Intelligence Agency and some CIA analysts weren't apparently convinced. The fact he lied "to avoid torture" was verified by "a bipartisan report of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence," according to a press release Monday on Al-Libi's death by Human Rights Watch (HRW).
