A fairly elementary and belated riff on the Rove/Cheney era of engineered insecurity. It is all downstream analysis, alas, and doesn’t go to the logical 9/11 fountainhead, but it is in the NY Times, and half of New Yorkers have now apparently walked upstream by themselves.
