Die alternative Gedenkfeier zum 11. September
Für die Opfer des 11. September - Blumen statt Krieg
Pariser Platz, 11. September 2003 14.30-19.00 Uhr
Am 11. September 2003 gedenkt American Voices Abroad - Berlin (ehem. Americans in Berlin Against the War) der Opfer des Terroranschlags des 11. Septembers sowie der unschuldigen Opfern des "Krieges gegen den Terrorismus" mit einer Mahnwache vor dem Gelände der künftigen US-Botschaft am Pariser Platz.
Die Namen der Opfer des 11. Septembers werden verlesen, auch wird ausdrücklich auf die Opfer des Afghanistan- und des Irak-Krieges verwiesen. Die Gäste unserer Benefizveranstaltung (4. Juli 2003) werden eingeladen, in einer Abschlußzeremonie ab 18.30 musikalische/künstlerische Beiträge zu leisten.
Wir laden die Öffentlichkeit dazu ein, Blumen für alle Opfer niederzulegen und somit ein Zeichen für Frieden und Versöhnung zu setzen.
In Solidarität mit zeitgleichen Aktionen in New York City (New Yorkers Say No to War) protestieren wir gegen die Instrumentalisierung des 11. Septembers durch die Bush-Regierung und fordern die Offenlegung der Hintergründe des 11. Septembers.
Mit dem Standort auf dem Pariser Platz knüpfen wir an unseren 48-stundiges Redemarathon (Filibuster für den Frieden, 13.-15. März 2003) an und treten erneut als "Amerikanische Friedensbotschaft" (American Peace Embassy) auf.

Thank you for your e-mail regarding connecting on 9/11. It would be wonderful to speak with you on that morning. I assume that you have seen the photos on our website of the 'mourning' that we organized last year and will be doing again this year. We will be lying down silently in Union Square to mourn the deaths of those that died in the attacks on 9/11, those that died in Afghanistan, those that died in Iraq, those that died in Israel and Palestine, and those that we will lose in the future. We will be giving out a palm card with our intent to passersby. I can e-mail you a copy when it is finished. We will lay down from 8:46 a.m., the time that the first plane hit, until 10:29 a.m., the time the second tower fell. Our group will be meeting in the next week, we can figure out what will be the best time for us to speak on the phone and I will get back to you. Thanks for your work!
