Blowback or Bloody Treason Well, the day was nine-eleven in the year two thousand-oneThat’s the day the “war on terror” was officially begun When 2 planes took down 3 buildings in a scene of “Shock & Awe” Before they hauled away the rubble, it was a crime scene for the law! Chorus: Who had the means? Who had the motive? Who could do this crime and live? Who had the opportunity? Who benefits to what degree? We need a great detective’s logic! Forensic facts and laws of physics… Not “leaps of faith”… Just “steps to reason” Was it blowback or bloody treason? Was it blowback or bloody treason?

Bush to visit Calgary... live reports from demonstration to indict him for War Crimes!Democracy Now and many other alternative news sites are reporting on the massive demonstrations today against Bush while he's visiting Canada ... In light of the leaked Red Cross torture report from 2007, arresting him for war crimes is the least Canada can do! These war criminals must be hounded everywhere they go until they're finally tried in a legal setting... Watch for speaking schedules for other war criminals and let's repeat this action--these people are actually being PAID to spread their venom, and they should not be able to do that without citizens of conscience telling the truth everywhere they go.

UPDATE 3/18: Bush's speech, for which he was paid $150,000, was sponsored by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, and 1,500 people paid $400 for a ticket... incredible. The speech was entitled "Eight Momentous Years in the Oval Office: Challenges Facing the World in the 21st Century" (as the reporter states this, the news anchor laughs...): Tuesday, March 17th, 2009, 9:00 am Pacific - 12:00 Noon Eastern - 16:00 GMT Listen live at http://noliesradio.org (or http://67.18.54.205/~nolies)

Kucinich Requests Investigation into 'Executive Assassination Ring'Washington D.C. (March 16, 2009) -- Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) Friday sent a letter to Chairman Edolphus Towns of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee requesting an immediate investigation into allegations made by the investigative reporter Seymour Hersh that the White House operated an 'executive assassination ring' that circumvented Congressional oversight. Kucinich explains in the letter that, "Mr. Hersh made the allegation before an audience at the University of Minnesota on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. He stated, "Under President Bush's authority, they've been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving" It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently. They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. . .Congress has no oversight of it.'" Kucinich adds, "If true, these operations violate longstanding U.S. policy regarding covert actions and illegally bypass Congressional oversight. . . Hersh is within a year or more of releasing a book that is said to include evidence of this allegation. However, we cannot wait a year or more to establish the truth."

Sunshine Week 2009: March 15-21
This week, newspapers across the country will once again sponsor panel discussions, Webcasts and op-eds pushing the American ideals of a free press and citizen access to the inner workings of government. ... Survey Of State Government Information Online Most Americans can easily find videos of water skiing squirrels on the Internet but they’ll have less luck finding out whether their children's school buses and classrooms are safe, or if neighborhood gas stations are overcharging. The Sunshine Week 2009 Survey of State Government Information online found that while more and more government records are being posted online, some of the most important information is being left offline. And in some cases governments are charging taxpayers to access records that they already paid for, such as death certificates. Read the report...

The 9/11 Commission and TortureThe bipartisan panel that investigated the terrorist attacks was widely praised.
But did its final report rely on suspect information? Powerful Democrats on Capitol Hill are clamoring for creation of a bipartisan "9/11 style" commission to investigate the legality of the Bush administration's antiterrorism tactics--especially its use of harsh interrogation techniques. President Obama has been notably cool to the idea. But the case for a "truth" commission was bolstered by the disclosure this month that the CIA had destroyed 92 videotapes of the interrogations and confinement of Al Qaeda suspects. A dozen showed the use of "enhanced" techniques routinely described by human-rights groups as torture. Lawmakers say the obvious model for such an inquiry would be the 9/11 Commission--an independent bipartisan body praised for its authoritative account of the attacks. But as a reporter who covered the commission from start to finish and later wrote a history of its investigation, I wonder if Congress understands the deep irony of establishing a "new 9/11 Commission" on these issues. Former commission investigators have acknowledged to me over the past year that the panel had a serious blind spot on questions about torture.

David Ray Griffin Book Tour - 'Time for a Second Look'The Boston University School of Theology and the Boston 9/11 Truth Committee proudly present: "The New Pearl Harbor Revisited: 9/11, the Cover-Up, and the Exposé" April 11, 2009 Dr. David Ray Griffin is a prominent theologian and scholar and professor emeritus at the Claremont School of Theology in California, where he taught for over 30 years (retiring in 2004). He has authored or edited over two dozen books including five books that expose the outrageous lies of the U.S. government explanations of the 9/11 attacks. Thanks substantially to his own extraordinary personal dedication to the work of exposing 9/11 truth, Griffin is able to conclude that, "The 9/11 truth movement's exposé of the 9/11 cover-up has shown that virtually every dimension of the official account of 9/11 to be false beyond a reasonable doubt."

Investigative reporter Seymour Hersh describes 'executive assassination ring'Update: Eric Black received and published a response from a CIA agent on this... posted at end.
– Ed.
by Eric Black At a "Great Conversations" event at the University of Minnesota last night, legendary investigative reporter Seymour Hersh may have made a little more news than he intended by talking about new alleged instances of domestic spying by the CIA, and about an ongoing covert military operation that he called an "executive assassination ring." Hersh spoke with great confidence about these findings from his current reporting, which he hasn't written about yet. In an email exchange afterward, Hersh said that his statements were "an honest response to a question" from the event's moderator, U of M Political Scientist Larry Jacobs and "not something I wanted to dwell about in public." Hersh didn't take back the statements, which he said arise from reporting he is doing for a book, but that it might be a year or two before he has what he needs on the topic to be "effective...that is, empirical, for even the most skeptical." The evening of great conversation, featuring Walter Mondale and Hersh, moderated by Jacobs and titled "America's Constitutional Crisis," looked to be a mostly historical review of events that have tested our Constitution, by a journalist and a high government officials who had experience with many of the crises.

We are being spoon-fed stupid again...Excellent questions being asked, as usual, by Larisa Alexandrovna over at atlargely.com, followed there by some equally thought-provoking commentary from readers. Unfortunate that even with all the "change" and "hope" promised we can't find reasonable debate, let alone any answers, in the quite un-changed corporate media...
And since Obama and his legal team can't even agree with each other on basic legal foundations--such as habeas corpus, and Obama's administration is backing immunity for John Yoo and other heinous torture proponents, the thought that this (alleged) KSM & Friends 'trial' will even begin to sort things out seems pretty silly. But why try to sort things out and reassess America's standing on basic human value? Instead, let's all focus on outrageous statements attributed to this group so we won't make a fuss when 17,000 MORE troops head into Afghanistan, when US drones bomb MORE civilians in Pakistan, when our troops DON'T leave Iraq, when all the "other Gitmos" are NOT closed, and when NO ONE is held accountable for torturing, sometimes to death, people around the world. Heck, it's worked for years and years! Yep, rev up the hatred-machine again and beat the drums of vengeance-war more loudly, so the rising wail of voices demanding justice for all humanity will be drowned out. Again... – Ed.
Larisa Alexandrovna Can someone explain to me how 5 suspected members of Al Qaeda (although there is no question regarding KSM) suddenly got their own PR machine from inside Gitmo and at the hands of a military judge, not to mention getting a world stage through which to frighten Americans some more? And the media? Well, they are too well versed in stupid to ask any sensible questions:

Former Accused Iraqi Agent Susan Lindauer, Secret Charges and The Patriot Act in Actionby Michael Collins In an unprecedented judicial ploy that lasted five years, federal prosecutors blocked Ms. Lindauer's rights to trial or any other sort of evidentiary hearings that would test her story. For 11 months, she was confined at Carswell federal prison on a Texas military base and at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, without a conviction or plea bargain. During the indictment, she was conveniently gagged from sharing her direct knowledge of Iraqi Pre-War Intelligence, which she gained as a primary asset covering the Iraqi Embassy at the United Nations from August, 1996 onwards. She was also silenced from talking about the advance warning she gave the Office of Counter-Terrorism and U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's private staff in August, 2001, about possible airplane hijackings and a reprise of the 1993 World Trade Center attack.

Guantanamo detainees say they planned September 11: report & excerptsOf course there were Islamic planners inside the 9/11 circle. That has absolutely no relationship to all the extensive pre-warnings provided by numerous governments to the US/Bush Administration before the attacks. Nor does it have any relationship to the complete failure of following established procedures for over two hours to intercept the "hijacked" aircraft. Nor does this have anything to do with the Able Danger stand down six months before, or the first ever in history steel frame buildings to fail from a fire.

March 10, 2009 WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- The five detainees at the U.S. Guantanamo Bay prison camp charged with plotting the September 11 attacks have filed a document expressing pride at their accomplishment and accepting responsibility for the deaths of nearly 3,000 people, The New York Times reported on Monday. The document, which the newspaper said may be released publicly on Tuesday, describes the five men as the "9/11 Shura Council," and says their actions were an offering to God, according to excerpts of the document read to a reporter by an unidentified government official, the report said. "'To us,' the official read, 'they are not accusations. To us they are a badge of honor, which we carry with honor,'" the paper said.
