David Griffin: Letter to Brussels

Dear 9/11 Truth Seekers,

I regret that, due to the fact that I’m addressing an audience in Oslo tonight, I am unable to attend your United for Truth March here in Brussels. Nevertheless, I wish, by means of this written statement, to say a few words of encouragement and appreciation for your efforts.

The attacks in New York and Washington six years ago left the American people stunned and ready to agree to almost anything the Bush-Cheney administration proposed. At home, this has meant severe restrictions on civil liberties in the name of the so-called PATRIOT Act.

Abroad, we have had a so-called war on terror, which has really been a war of aggression against Muslims and a war for oil and domination in Muslim nations. This has meant six years of torture, humiliation, and the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people in Afghanistan and Iraq, people who were either innocent civilians or soldiers fighting against an immoral and even illegal occupation.

During this period, we have also seen an unprecedented media cover-up in the United States and allied countries. Such cover-ups have happened before. But in this case, the crime was more enormous, the consequences were more catastrophic, and the evidence was more obvious. (For example, just by looking at the collapse of Building 7 of the World Trade Center, anyone who knows anything about these matters can see that it was brought down by explosives, as Danny Jowenko of Holland has illustrated.) The failure of the media to expose the lies of the official story threatens the continued existence of democracy, which simply cannot function without an independent media, dedicated to revealing crimes of state.

The truth is, of course, that the War on Terror is bogus. The 9/11 Truth Movement is driven by a desire to find out the truth about what really happened on 9/11 and who is really behind these attacks. In 6 years, the movement has made a lot of headway. More and more people are starting to realise that the attacks of 9/11 were an inside job, orchestrated by the United States government as a pretext to carry out its pre-established policies.

There have been two very important developments in the 9/11 Truth Movement during the past year. One has been the emergence of groups of professionals. We now have not only have Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice, which puts out the Journal of 9/11 Studies. We also have Veterans for 9/11 Truth, Pilots for 9/11 Truth, and, most recently, Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. Moreover, even though there is not yet an organization of former intelligence professionals, many of them have spoken out. Three former CIA analysts, for example, have endorsed my books.

The other big development has been the growth of 9/11 activism in Europe. I have come to believe that if the truth is ever to be exposed, Europe will probably need to lead the way. Awareness appears to be spreading far and wide. This United for Truth March—the first of its kind in Brussels, I understand—is testimony to this growing awareness.

But we still have a long road ahead of us. Therefore it is important that you all keep working to force politicians around the globe, especially the European Parliament in Brussels, to demand a genuine inquiry into 9/11. A genuine investigation is all that it will take for the truth to come out, because once people get empirical about 9/11, they quickly see what you have all come to see: that the evidence that 9/11 was an inside job is obvious.

What is needed is a new and fully independent Commission to uncover the truth about what really happened during that fateful day six years ago. This commission should consist of world leaders, scientists, philosophers, architects, engineers, intelligence professionals, military experts, and other people with relevant expertise. And they should take evidence from people who were not allowed to give testimony to the 9/11 Commission and other bodies who have issued the official reports in the United States—such as firefighters, police officers, other first responders, people who escaped from the towers and the Pentagon, and people near Shanksville Pennsylvania, where Flight 93 was said to have crashed.

And when finally the truth is revealed, we can learn from it and start the healing process. We will perhaps need a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. But first we need to get some truth out into the open, so as to motivate a more formal discovery process.

Congratulations on your success in organizing this historic march. May it become known as one of the steps that helped the truth about 9/11—a truth that will do much to overcome the insanity we are now living through—come out.

Since 2004, 911Truth.Org has educated the public about the suppressed realities of the September 11 attacks.

We worked with the 9/11 Families to pressure the Bush administration to convene an investigation into the deadliest attacks on US soil since Pearl Harbor. We attended many of the commission hearings and questioned commissioners and bird-dogged elected officials to get answers to the Unanswered Questions that remain so to this day.

We reported the contradictions, lies and omissions on the public record. 911Truth.Org staff have given hundreds of interviews on radio and mainstream network TV.

We cover a wide range of 9/11-related issues in publishing academic papers, original research, and opinion pieces.
