We’re writing with updates on some recent happenings, and a few highlights of what’s been posted at 911truth.org in the last month. If you haven’t checked the site lately, you’ll find a lot of important material.

9/11 Truth Groups continue their work with amazing persistence and dedication all over the world. A list of contacts for many groups can be found at our Grassroots Organizers page. Not all have a group meeting, but are willing to be contacts to get more going in their area. If you are interested in being listed as a contact for your area, click here .
TruthAction.org continues the lead in helping organize and report on 11th of Every Month Actions, and we encourage you to get linked up there if you are (or would like to) organize or participate in these. Then, don’t forget to post them on our Calendar so we can help promote.
Our Calendar provides access to details of events posted by organizers. We know there are many more events happening than are currently listed–we’ve set it up so that anyone can post their own events, with as much information as possible, so please feel free to utilize that calendar.
NYC CAN: The NYC Coalition for Accountability Now continues to make great strides in gathering enough petition signatures to place an initiative for a new and independent 9/11 investigation on the 
ballot for the November, 2009 city elections. This week they announced having gathered over 40,000 signatures! Their Executive Committee, made up of 9/11 family members and survivors (including 911Truth.org Advisory Board member Donna Marsh O’Connor, Bob McIlvaine, Jean Canavan, Edith Beaujon, Janette MacKinlay, and William Rodriguez) have released personal statements from each of them, survivor and artist Janette MacKinlay created a video appeal , another video was released just today, and legal adviser William Pepper wrote a statement requesting our support. The Mission of NYCCAN, and a thorough FAQ page , are now available at their newly revamped website. Only New York City residents can sign the petition, but please have a look and consider whether you can become a member by donating $25 (or more) to support the petitioning now very successfully underway, thereby helping to make this ballot initiative a reality.

If you haven’t checked the site in awhile, you’ll find a pretty stunning variety of articles addressing 9/11 research, precedents, and consequences, as well as other related issues. It’s as if the bad news just keeps pouring in, and deciding what to post and what important news we hope readers find elsewhere is becoming more and more difficult. Even the most pessimistic among us are stunned by this new administration’s building upon, rather than dismantling, the same programs and policies that had us so outraged the last eight years! In particular, as the horrifying reality of this country’s recent practice of brutal torture becomes more clear, we will continue to update readers with information about these shameful and appalling crimes, continuing to be committed “in our names.”
Some of you have asked: Why post stories about torture at 911truth.org? Isn’t this “just another progressive issue”? What does it have to do with demanding the truth of 9/11?
The 9/11 Commission based much of its findings and subsequent recommendations on information from “9/11 mastermind” Khalid Sheik Mohammed who (not surprisingly) says he “gave a lot of false information” to stop the torture. (Similarly, the justification for the Iraq war was essentially based on statements, subsequently retracted, by “ghost prisoner” Ibn al-Libi while he was being tortured in Egypt.) Obviously, if the very basis for recommendations by the 9/11 Commission that have helped to destroy our civil liberties was based on torture-induced false “admissions,” then we, the 9/11 Truth Movement, need to be working hard to bring about truth and accountability for torture, in addition to 9/11 crimes themselves. The last sentence of our Mission Statement says, “TO END … the regime and illicit power structures responsible for 9/11 and to replace the system that made 9/11 necessary.”
And having spent my life among Kansas conservatives, I can state unequivocally that this is not a “progressive issue.” True conservatives (as opposed to neocons), such as Andrew Bacevich , Paul Craig Roberts , and Bruce Fein are as appalled by this criminal behavior as any progressive, and speaking out just as fervently. As with the case for 9/11 truth, demanding an immediate end to and accountability for torturing people– any people, including those we’ve tortured to death, or the 2400 children the US has admittedly detained in Iraq–is certainly not a partisan issue… It supersedes any previous false left/right, progressive/conservative paradigm. It is a human issue.
Finally, no matter how much we may want to focus solely on the “root” (9/11), we as human beings can not do that without also addressing the immediate bleeding “branches.” Of course we don’t want to see the 2,000 torture photos Obama now refuses to release, but we must face this darkness and overcome it if we are to have any future at all. A former military interrogator of 14 years has made the case that torture has cost “hundreds if not thousands” of American lives, and has been a chief anti-American recruiting tool: “[M]any — as many as 90 percent — of those captured in Iraq said they joined the fight against the United States because of the torture conducted at Abu Ghraib and Guantánamo Bay.” In addition to the many lives lost (and now at risk) because of Americans torturing, Americans themselves are also at risk.
For a movement of people demanding justice, allowing these torture policy authors, their lawyers, and those who have personally committed the crimes, (with the psychologists and medical doctors who monitored them), to walk free with no accountability for their part in torture, murder, and war crimes, is outrageous . This psychological denial on the part of the American people may well (and probably should, really) lead to more anti-American sentiment even than the crimes themselves. Can we really allow the rest of the world to believe that we just don’t care? This is absolutely part of demanding accountability for 9/11. We all know those crimes did not end on that dreadful day. And we must strive to end them now.
For these reasons, and in keeping with our Mission Statement, 911truth.org will continue to focus on posting 9/11-related news, information, and actions, but we will also continue to bring to your attention articles about torture and many other issues that have sprung from or been facilitated by the crimes of 9/11, as well as the occasional useful-but-unrelated piece. Naturally, we all want to see the arsonists who lit the original fires behind bars, but we mustn’t forget we also have some currently raging infernos to put out–now!

PatriotsQuestion911.com has compiled a valuable new listing of truth supporters: 41 U.S. Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Agency Veterans Challenge the Official Account of 9/11 .
The peer-reviewed paper, ‘Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust…’ by Harrit, Farrer, Jones and Ryan et al. , published in early April, has resulted in a wonderful interview of Dr. Harrit on one of the most respected Danish TV channels, a print interview at Germany’s gulli.com, interviews of Harritt , and Jones & Ryan on Visibility911.com.

Richard Gage of AE911Truth.org appeared live this week on the “Great Day” program on KMPH Fox 26 in Fresno, CA, following his local presentation of “9/11: Blueprint for Truth–The Architecture of Destruction.” Bravo to Richard and KMPH Fox 26 for this fair and balanced reporting! Richard’s tour of Southern California continues through June 14– details here .
And “9/11 Press for Truth” will air for the first time on US broadcast TV on KBDI-Channel 12, Denver’s PBS station, on June 3 at 7pm, with producer Kyle Hence and 9/11 family member Bob McIlvaine live in the studio. Kudos to Colorado911Visibility for your years of perseverance in Denver finally achieving such a success!
Jesse Ventura joined Howard Stern to discuss 9/11 truth, and the liberal site, Daily Kos, has had quite a storm brewing over their rule banning any talk of 9/11 truth issues … Official story of 9/11 “almost entirely untrue”
