Dear friends,
I wanted to share with you my latest effort on behalf of 9/11 truth. I’m sending
a packet of information and a free DVD to about 50 local churches in the South
Bend area, to coincide with the sixth anniversary of 9/11.
Each church will receive a personal letter, copies of two South Bend Tribune
articles about the two 9/11 truth conferences I organized, a copy of the Doonesbury
cartoon, the October 2006 CBS/NYT poll, and a list of websites & books (with
library availability on the titles).
About half the churches will receive the DVD of David Ray Griffin’s talk from
April 2005 – “9/11 and American Empire: How Should Religious People Respond.”
The other half will receive his more recent talk from March 2006 called “9/11,
American Empire, and Christian Faith” (Trinity Episcopal Church, Santa
Barbara, California).
I have to thank dvdproject.com for the wonderful, fast service they provided
in sending the DVDs, and for help in choosing the right ones for this project.
Thanks also to those in our group who volunteered to help me put these packets
together. I’m actually almost done, and it looks like I’ll have them sent out
on Tuesday.
Although South Bend 9/11 Questions isn’t hosting an anniversary event of its
own this year, I hope that this effort, along with continued efforts by our
Assistant Organizer Melies Kish and others, will help educate the community
in much the same way as a conference or a demonstration.
I also hope that others in the movement will use this strategy, if they haven’t
already. Having the religious community on our side certainly can’t hurt. It
remains to be seen whether or not they will rise to the challenge of educating
themselves and their congregations.
I’m also going to send this information to a South Bend Tribune reporter
who may decide to do an article on the project.
Best wishes,
Andy
Here is the text of the letter I’m sending to each church:
Dear______,
As we approach the sixth anniversary of September 11th, 2001, I write to you
in the hope that people of faith in the South Bend community will be willing
to take another look at the events of that terrible day.
I have organized two major conferences in South Bend on the topic of 9/11,
with the goal of educating the public. Both events were publicized prominently
in the South Bend Tribune and featured former South Bend resident Kevin Ryan,
who was fired from his job in 2004 for raising questions about the official
9/11 story. He has since gone on to become one of the most respected members
of the 9/11 truth movement.
I hope you’ll take some time to review these materials and share them with your colleagues and your congregation. The enclosed DVD features a presentation by David Ray Griffin, a prominent Christian theologian and published author. His books on the topic include: The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11, The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions, Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11: A Call to Reflection and Action, 9/11 and American Empire, Volume I: Intellectuals Speak Out, (edited by David Ray Griffin and Peter Dale Scott), and Debunking 9/11 Debunking: An Answer to Popular Mechanics and Other Defenders of the Official Conspiracy Theory.
This is only a small sample of the many books, articles, websites, and DVDs available on this topic. The enclosed resource guide provides additional items, along with book title availability at the St. Joseph County Public Library.
