Another very good piece of media coming out of the Colorado events of October 28th and 29th, 2006, this time from the Boulder Daily Camera. An exceptionally well written piece reporting in a courageous way rarely seen in mainstream coverage of September 11th. Taken together, this is some of the best coverage to date of the 9-11 truth movement in the mainstream media.
Consortiumnews Editor's Note: Many Americans are in denial about what is happening to the United States. They don't want to believe that a totalitarian structure could be put in place in their own country....
This starkly realistic editorial from Buzzflash considers potential ramifications of the Military Commissions Act of 2006, reminding us of relatively recent South American history following a similarly tragic path. Given the many examples of the repercussions of unbridled power in just the last century of history, this editor asks, "What will it take for us to rise to the occasion, America? Must history repeat because we refuse to learn from the past?"
The Center for Constitutional Rights has already filed litigation against parts of this legislation, on October 2, 2006. CCR Executive Director Vincent Warren said: "Last week, Congress voted to have the United States join the ranks of the nations of the world that have authorized indefinite detention without trial and torture without accountability. For over two hundred years, our Constitution has guaranteed that we would not sacrifice our democratic principles even in times of crisis. In this first challenge to the MCA, we demand that the Administration uphold the Constitution which has, and should continue to be, the pillar of living in a democratic society."
This is but one example of resistance, and we encourage readers to be aware of and support every effort to stop the imminent threats of this constitutional crisis. Talk to your neighbors (how will we stand together if we don't even know each other?). Hold community meetings and inform others of what's going on. Put your money to work supporting truthtellers and organizations fighting for us--time to take every penny back from the war machine and the liars. Read. Think. Discuss. Act. Now is the time.
Antiwar.com's Justin Raimondo analyzes last week's legislation, including its frightening breadth of application and potential, with historical depth, thoroughly linked for perspective and further study.

The Senate has agreed to give President Bush extraordinary power to detain and try prisoners in the so-called war on terror. The legislation strips detainees of the right to challenge their own...
Truly moving account of the September 11 truth actions in New York. Given all the potentially risky fault lines that weekend between the families, the police, the truth activists, and even within the movement, the cohesive and optimistic energy that marked this "anniversary" is a sign of both increasing compassion and progress, and should give us all a lot of hope.
