Referring to damning EPA report from August, showing air was NOT "safe to breathe" in spite of assurances to the contrary. White House "convinced" EPA to add reassuring statements and to delete cautionary ones from press releases/statements issued immediately after 9/11 and in weeks following ... White House role in EPA public communications re. WTC conditions described in 9/12/01 email from Assistant Director of EPA to senior officials stating, "All statements to media should be cleared through the National Security Council before they are released."
